ANOTHER MISSING GENTLEMAN. - The most serious alarm is felt
for the safety of Mr. Axford, senior, of Bothwell. II ohas
now been missing fourteen days, and not tihe slightest clue
can be obtained of him up to the present moment.
It
appears that he left Botwell last Tuesday fortnight, to
proceed to Mr. Chamberlin's, near Pontville. It is
ascertained that he arrived at Green Ponds about four in the
afternoon, and proceeded on the ronad walking, intending
that when the down Launceston coach overtook him, he would
get on as far as Pontville. Whether he got on, or whether
the coach overtook him or not, is not ascertained, but he
never reached his destination, and from that time no
information of him can be obtained. Strong suspicion exists
that he has met with foul play, and not the least hope of
finding him alive is entertained. Mr. Axford is an old
gentlman about o:, had a valuable gold watch with him, but
what sum of money is not known.
